* The Cities and Towns geography layer is composed of both Incorporated Places (IPs) and Census Designated Places (CDPs). CDPs, although synchronized to TIGER 2005 geo-referencing and precision, are based on TIGER 2000 boundary definitions. In the infrequent case where a 2000 CDP overlaps with a 2005 IP, the more current place (2005 IP) is given precedence. Therefore all 2005 IPs are complete and intact, and 2000 CDPs have been added to OnTheMap where possible. Although rare, this situation can result in altered/cut CDP boundaries if a more current IP has annexed land since the 2000 Census.
