Area Employment by Category (Shed Report, Area Profile Report, or Concentric Ring Report for a Labor Shed Analysis) This panel lists four types of jobs categories across three years of historical data for the selected employment area. The categories are All Jobs, All Primary Jobs, All Jobs (Private Sector Only), and All Primary Jobs (Private Sector Only).

Resident-Held Jobs by Category (Shed Report, Area Profile Report, or Concentric Ring Report for a Commute Shed Analysis) This panel lists four types of jobs categories across three years of historical data for the selected home area. The categories are All Jobs, All Primary Jobs, All Jobs (Private Sector Only), and All Primary Jobs (Private Sector Only).

Total Employers (Shed Report, Area Profile Report, or Concentric Ring Report for a Labor Shed Analysis) The total number of establishments employing workers in the selected area on the first day of the 2nd quarter for each of the three years of historical data.

All Jobs A count of all jobs in the selected geographic area for the selected time period. This job count serves as the denominator for calculating the percent shares for the other three job categories.

All Jobs (Private Sector Only) A count of private-sector (non-farm) jobs in the selected geographic area for the selected time period.

All Primary Jobs A count of primary jobs in the selected geographic area for the selected time period. A primary job is the highest paying job for an individual worker for that period. The count of primary jobs is the same as the count of workers.

All Primary Jobs (Private Sector Only) A count of private-sector primary jobs in the selected geographic area for the selected time period. A primary job is the highest paying job for an individual worker for that period. The count of private-sector primary jobs is the same as the count of private-sector (non-farm) workers.

Baseline Count of Jobs This panel shows the count for one of the four job categories selected by the user during the Create/Change Overlay selection. This job count serves as the denominator for calculating the percent shares for the remainder of the report as well as the points shown in the Map Overlay.

Shed Report

Job Counts in Cities/Towns Where Workers Live (Labor Shed Report) This panel shows the top 10 cities/towns that are the places of residence for the workers in the selected geographic area and time period. "All Other Locations" covers cities/towns not included in the top 10 as well as land not part of a city or town.

Job Counts in Cities/Towns Where Residents are Employed (Commute Shed Report) This panel shows the top 10 cities/towns that are the workplaces for residents in the selected geographic area and time period. "All Other Locations" covers cities/towns not included in the top 10 as well as land not part of a city or town.

Job Counts in Counties Where Workers Live (Labor Shed Report) This panel shows the top 10 counties that are the places of residence for the workers in the selected geographic area and time period. "All Other Locations" covers counties not included in the top 10.

Job Counts in Counties Where Residents are Employed (Commute Shed Report) This panel shows the top 10 counties that are the workplaces for residents in the selected geographic area and time period. "All Other Locations" covers counties not included in the top 10.

Job Counts in States Where Workers Live (Labor Shed Report) This panel shows the top 3 states that are the places of residence for the workers in the selected geographic area and time period. "All Other Locations" covers states not included in the top 10 as well as U.S. territories not shown in OnTheMap.

Area Profile Report

Jobs by Worker Age (Labor and Commute Shed) This panel show three age breakout categories from the total Baseline Count of Jobs. The categories are 30 or younger, 31 to 54 years, and 55 or older.

Jobs by Earnings Paid (Labor and Commute Shed) This panel shows three earnings breakout categories from the total Baseline Count of Jobs. The categories are $1200/mo. or less, $1201-3400/mo., and more than $3400/mo.

Jobs by Industry Type (2-digit NAICS) (Labor and Commute Shed) This panel shows 20 industry breakout categories from the total Baseline Count of Jobs. The categories are all 2-digit NAICS codes, otherwise known as industry sectors.

Paired Area Report

Workers Employed in Selection Area #1 (Labor Shed) This panel lists four types of job-count totals for the selected employment area, which was the first area selected for the Paired Area Analysis.

Workers Residing in Selection Area #1 (Commute Shed) This panel lists four types of job-count totals for the selected home area, which was the first area selected for the Paired Area Analysis.

Workers of Area #1 Living in Area #2 (Labor Shed) This panel lists four types of job-count totals (and the percent share of each total) for the selected paired area. Only jobs held by workers residing in the second selection area (Area #2) and employed in the first selection area (Area #1) are displayed here. The Share column displays the percent of all jobs located in Area #1 whose workers reside in Area #2.

Residents of Area #1 Working in Area #2 (Commute Shed) This panel lists four types of job-count totals (and the percent share of each total) for the selected paired area. Only jobs located in the second selection area (Area #2) whose workers reside in the first selection area (Area #1) are displayed here. The Share column displays the percent of all jobs for which workers reside in Area #1 and the job is located in Area #2.

QWI Report (Labor Shed Only)

Employment (Beginning-of-2nd quarter) Estimate of the total number of jobs on the first day of the reference (in this case, 2nd) quarter.

Employment, Stable Jobs Estimate of stable jobs, i.e., the number of jobs that are held on both the first and last day of the quarter with the same employer.

Separations, Stable Jobs Estimated number of workers who held a job for at least a full quarter and then the job ended. It is the total number of workers employed in the previous full quarter who left their employer in the reference quarter.

New Hires, Stable Jobs Estimated number of workers who started a job that they had not held within the past year and the job lasted at least a full quarter with a given employer. Total number of workers who were new hires by the employer in the last quarter and are full-quarter employed in the current quarter.

Firm Job Gain Estimated number of new jobs added at firms throughout the quarter.

Firm Job Loss Estimated number of jobs lost at firms throughout the quarter.

Employment (reference quarter) A count of people employed in a firm at any time during the quarter. It is not a count of jobs.

Average Monthly Earnings, Stable Jobs Average monthly earnings of employees with stable jobs (i.e., jobs with the same firm throughout the quarter).

Average Monthly Earnings Separations from Stable Jobs Average monthly earnings of separations from full-quarter status at an establishment.

Average Monthly Earnings, New Hires, Stable Jobs Average monthly earnings of newly stable (i.e., full-quarter) employees who were new hires with a firm in the previous quarter.
